I don’t have a photo of a snake in a tree, so this will have to do. There are no snowstorms in Haiti, but the snow evokes Damballah for me for two reasons.
Damballah’s color is white. Clean, pure, and calming, he also prefers offerings of white foods, such as eggs, milk, and cucumbers.
The other thing is the quietness. Besides not having many cars on the road or people outside, the snow seems to absorb sound. Damballah embodies peace, and does not communicate with words.
