The Fall is a time to get rid of the old like the dying leaves and generate energy for the new. This photo is of Zozobra, which is a 50 foot flammable statue burned every year to symbolize the letting go and burning of the bad things and praying for good things in the future. There is a festival I’ve attended many times, which is The Burning of Old Man Gloom or burning of The Zozobra. Many cultures and religious traditions have similar times of the year including Voodoo. They’ll be more information soon regarding the Voodoo New Year.
