When you check out the Lwa database, you will see a number of them have drinks mentioned in the list of offerings. Erzulie Freda likes champagne, Simbi enjoys his whiskey, and rum is popular with many other Lwa. Some rums have things steeped in them, such as the peppers when making Piman for Baron Samedi, or star anise for Gran Bwa. You can make some of these yourself, putting the spice directly into the bottle or letting it steep in a jar.
I was looking at Cocktails by Cody, who makes drinks based on Disney characters. Some of his drinks would work well for the Lwa. Cody uses colors and flavors to evoke the characters, and we can do the same. If there is a type of fruit that the Lwa likes, you can make it into a smoothie. Coffee and chocolate liqueurs are available, which will work for those who like them.
I was at a fundraiser a couple of weeks ago, held at a winery. Besides the admission fee, a portion of bottle sales went to the charity. They had this delicious dessert wine, raspberry chocolate flavored. Erzulie Freda was right there with me, and asked me to buy two bottles! At the event, with each bottle purchase we would have a ticket entered in a door prize drawing. I won! I’m not a big drinker, so of the three bottles in the prize basket I gave two of them to other people. Sharing the love from Erzulie!
