So, you spent some time outside in the sun today, and now you might be a little bit more burned than what you were intending. It can happen pretty quickly, even with sunscreen on.
Now that you are as red as a lobster, you are looking for anything that will take that stint out! Well, everyone knows about aloe vera. It is the Holy Grail of sunburn treatment, But I'm about to blow your mind....ready?
OK, well, unless you are using a bottle of 100% aloe vera, you might actually be making your sunburn pain worse. WHAT?!?! Well, turns out that a lot of times, it is just a scented jell that will make you burn feel worse. Judging by the title of this post, you can probably figure that I am about to tell you about coconut oil for a sunburn instead.
When I first heard about this, I thought that was the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard, because everyone knows that oil on a burn is no bueno. BUT! I am here to tell you that it makes you feel a-mazing. How do I know. As it turns out, I am writing this while rocking a very, very awful sunburn (side note, be leary of dollar store sunscreen). I reapplied three times, and I still look like this:
It was burning and stinging so so bad and I started to slather on the coconut oil and aaahhhhhhhhh now I feel better. Still made a shower rather uncomfortable.
Make sure that the oil you are using is organic coconut oil. Cold pressed is best. Plus coconut oil repairs damaged skin cells. AND, just as a side note, you can use it as a sunscreen (just make sure you reapply, and keep an eye on your skin color).
And, nothing like a little bit of coconut oil to keep a favorite lwa happy, like Papa Legba. We all know how much he loves coconut!
Love and Light,
