A funny thing happened at the office. The lottery amount was large, and I realized that my co-workers in my section were getting some tickets as a group. Hey, not without me! A week went by with no winner and the pot kept getting bigger.
In a small company, one might easily be “out” as the resident Voodoo practitioner or witch, but it’s not so easy in a large corporation. In fact, some might get hinky about sharing practices in the office. But I had recently heard something, “Money on the floor, money in the door,” so I placed a few coins near our supervisor’s desk. It’s at the “entrance” of our section.
The next thing you know, two other people placed three pennies on the corner of their desks. I’m not sure where this came from— three pennies are something we might give to Papa Legba, and perhaps the co-workers knew this through their own family tradition. The next thing you know, we all placed three pennies on our desks.
The lottery numbers hit (not by us) and we all looked a little sad the next morning. Then the supervisor came around with a handout for each of us regarding our annual bonuses. Coincidence? Sure, it was something everyone in the company was getting, but I was very happy because mine was more than I expected!
And by the way, the pennies are still there on our desks. Too bad I don’t have a camera in my phone because I’d love to show you. And no one else has asked why. :-)
It never hurts to do some service to Sobo. March is the month that we at Spellmaker dedicate to this Lwa of prosperity.
