What are the qualities the soul must earn in order for you to be your true Self? Truth, harmony, order, balance, mercy, justice and unconditional love. In every situation you face in life, you are spiritually accountable to exercise one or more of these qualities. To do so, you must learn to practice trust, faith, compassion, patience, cooperation, discipline, and forgiveness.

Israel Antiquities Authority archaeologists excavated a
1,700-year-old curse tablet from a Roman mansion in the
City of David in Jerusalem. In the tablet a woman named
Kyrilla curses a man named Iennys, likely over a legal case.
Details here.
Revenge goes way back. The article goes on to say the curse was probably
written by a magician.
Do you have an Iennys, a Lenny, or anyone else in your life who has wronged
you? I know a professional who can help! Spellmaker has several options for
revenge or for simply sending someone out of your life. They are well-
crafted and effective products, and also safe to use. You do need to be
justified, as these spells and candles are for revenge and not to hurt an
innocent person.
Everyone has been been wronged in some way or another. Is it worth some
revenge work to keep someone from hurting you again? Or perhaps to keep
them from hurting someone else?

What is all this about, with Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte, and the birth and death? How can I apply it to my case if no one is sick, dying, or being born?
A broader sense of birth is creation, which is what creativity is all about. Something I found when serving the couple is that they can inspire a project, maybe even something you weren't planning such as writing a poem or some music.
Any project can use some imagination. If you are not sure how Baron and Brigitte can help you, just ask for their help. They may come up with something that surprises you, bring you closer to your goal, and have some fun along the way.
And when you do something creative, offer it up to them!
Please join us for our monthly ritual, this time dedicated to Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte. It will be held Thursday, October 24, at 9 PM Eastern time, 8 Central, 7 Mountain, and 6 PM Pacific. See you there!

In order to experience everyday spirituality, we need to remember that we are spiritual beings spending some time in a human body.

I had a wonderful time with Damballah and Ayida Ouedo recently. When they are there, it is like being caressed by silk. While these powerful lwa are all about patience and peace, they have some lively, terrific songs to honor them! I enjoyed singing for them and listening to some songs that honor them.
One song that I feel is particularly appropriate (and really enjoyed sharing) was Patti LaBelle’s version of Over the Rainbow. Ayida is represented by the rainbow- the beauty and soaring heights of this rendition always make me think of her!
Speaking of music, we will be honoring Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte with live music in our free upcoming prayer ritual to them next Thursday, 10/24! It is open for anyone to attend and is a great way to get in the spirit of Fet Ghede!

Meditation predates history and has been devoted as a practice of worship by Hindus’ and Buddhists. It wasn’t until 1500 BC that notations and records were kept mentioning meditation.
In the Middle Ages the Japanese Buddhists Monks took Meditation a step farther with chanting, which by the way is still practiced today. The notes from the chanting are directly affiliated with our chakra and found to be soothing.
Judaism introduced meditation into Hasidic practices and also in Kabala, which is Judaic mysticism.
The Jewish population weren’t the only fractioned of Mysticism though mediation, so were Islam. This was called Sufism, which is a practice of breathing and thinking at the same time. Islam believed “though thinking there is knowledge”.
Eastern and Western Christians also participated in mediation. It is believed the eastern Christians were introduced to mediation by the Greeks and Japanese. The practice of repeating or chanting “Jesus prayer” was widely used to undergo trance.
The western Christian Benedictine Monks also developed their
own chanting based on Christian teachings at the time. This was further developed by Saint Ignatius
of Loyola.
In Voodoo Practice there is music available to help you channel into a strong mediation. It takes some practice, and there are classes available to help you along, once you know how to meditate, you can do it anywhere, in an airport, even at work (maybe not).
If you are a beginner or don’t meditate often, quite is key. Lighting white candles and incense will allow you to sink into your meditation and shut the world out. While in your meditation you may want to speak to one LWA, or all of the LWA, your ancestors, or a dear friend who may not be here any longer.
Meditation also has health benifits too, it reduces blood pressure!!!

With Fet Ghede just around the corner, I'd like to share an old recipe of mine that is perfect for this time of year.
Cinnamon Skulls
*I prefer to use the clear, double-strength vanilla flavoring that is found in specialty baking and cake supply shops -- it keeps the cookies a nice light color and adds a wonderful flavor!
Cream sugar and butter together in large mixing bowl. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and spices; slowly add this mixture to the large mixing bowl, combining well. Divide dough into three portions; wrap in plastic food wrap and refrigerate until firm.
Move oven rack to center of oven and preheat oven to 400o Fahrenheit. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut out cookies using a skull-shaped cookie cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6 to 10 minutes, or until set and just lightly browned on edges. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before decorating as desired.
Decorating Tips: If your cookies came out a nice light color, you may wish to just draw on faces with chocolate or black icing, or melted chocolate. If you prefer to cover the skulls with white icing before adding facial features, try using candies for the features, or use melted chocolate or chocolate icing rather than black icing (I've found that when I used black icing on top of white, color would sometimes bleed out of the black icing into the white).
I make a candy glaze-type icing by mixing cocoa and powdered sugar together (plus black icing coloring if I want the icing to be black instead of brown), adding a splash of vanilla and/or maple flavoring, and stirring in just enough milk to make it the desired consistency (depending on whether I want to spread it or use a piping bag). If you accidentally make the icing too liquid, just add more sugar and cocoa until it reaches the proper consistency.
Allow icing to harden completely before storing the cookies, placing waxed paper between layers.
Ayibobo!

As some of us know, coming out of the Voodoo closet isn't always easy. So some may decide not to. But, that can make it hard to explain all the weird stuf you might have laying around your house. I try to find little ways to have my stuff out in the open without being out in the open. That way, the average person has no idea what is really going on (insert evil laugh). So, here is a wonderful way to honor Papa and use some of those old keys you have no clue what they are for!
