Spending time thinking about what your dearest intentions are for your spell work is completely worth the time. It doesn’t matter what you are doing your work on.
Obviously, find a clean quite place and gather your materials.
In the past I haven’t dedicated the time to really, truly, with my whole heart prepare my petitions. I had to figure out a way that worked for me. And here it is.
Petition prep 101:
Turn everything off, your phone, computer, TV, radio, everything.
Light a white candle and ask Papa Legba to help open your mind. You may also ask the particular LWA who is honored in your spell work if they wouldn’t mind helping too. Please remember to offer a gift to that LWA as a thank you for spending their time with you.
My particular LWA for my upcoming spell work is Ogoun. So I will ask him to help me find the right words for my petitioning. I will also set a piece of cake by a tree to thank Dear Ogoun.
Start writing, crossing out is fine, and enjoy this part of the process. Spend as much time as you need. You will feel better when doing your spell work, and develop a stronger relationship with your LWA.
Love to all, Happy Thanksgiving

Great post!! I have been having trouble with a very simple petition. I needed it to say a lot, without saying a lot. And just out of no where, it came to me tonight. I had been wracking my brain to try and figure it out, and as soon as I let it go, it came to me!
