The other week I was running low on the rum that I usually offer to Papa Legba. As I was planning a shopping trip I wrote it down on my list and then went into the kitchen to see what else I might need to buy.
When I opened the pantry cupboard and looked at the spices, the bag of coconut flakes that I keep for Papa shifted and landed on my arm. As it did, I looked up to see a bag of brown sugar and instantly saw in my mind Papa's altar decanter filled with a homemade rum recipe - and "heard" him say "Yes!" as well.
In Vodou, recipes are often closely guarded secrets. However, I think that Papa wanted me to share this one - maybe in hopes that he will get more of it?
The Recipe:
To a bottle of white rum add 1 cup of dark brown sugar and 1 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes. Shake well and keep in a glass container or flask for Papa. Serve generously and often!
Much Love!
