Yesterday morning my car would not start, and it may have been a predictor of today. I wonder, sometimes, if adversity is given to us as the universe's way of proving we can handle it. While annoying, it felt good to be able to walk to where I was headed and the day turned out to be very productive.
Today I'm seated at a friend's dining room table, because after last night's snowstorm they have electricity and I do not. One more item of gratitude: good friends within walking distance yet in a different power grid. Life is good!
Last night was the final evening of our Khouzhan class presentations* and I really wanted to see them! What to do in the dark with some candle light? Prayer comes to mind, and of course adjunct work... As I spent some time with my rosary, it occurred to me to phone a Khouzhan in a different area. Success! With Khouzhan Veve's help, I was able to listen to everything and passed the evening quite well. Thank you, Khouzhan Veve, for being my conduit!
It's interesting how differently we perceive things with limited senses. Bundled up in blankets in the dim light, I could not see the images or read the comments that people typed in. I only heard the voices and music. The meaning of what was said came through with clarity. My listening became more active and deliberate. I was able to really concentrate on what was said. Perhaps that was also due to volume and distortion changes as different people spoke, as it took a few seconds to re-tune my ears to the next voice. The limits to my experience of the presentations made them all the more precious to me.
Likewise as I was trudging the blocks to the friends' house this morning, everyone passed each other with smiles and good-morning greetings. I doubt that happens on ordinary days. What is it about the storms' aftermath that makes people friendlier? Perhaps the realization that we are not as much "in charge" of things as we thought we were.
*As we learn we have been given many assignments. These were group projects that we shared with other Khouzhans, not for public consumption just yet.
Love, Khouzhan Lucy
Still no power?! I'm sorry, at least you're making the best of it. And you are very welcome, I was happy to help!
Love,
Khouzhan Veve
