I'm house-sitting for friends this week. Between taking care of the dog and taking advantage of their lovely kitchen, I find it easiest to move in for the duration. That means a certain amount of Voodoo work comes with me.
In most travel situations, whether in a hotel or staying with someone, it's harder to bring things along. Many hotels have fire regulations and friends will smell the incense and wonder why you spend time alone when you should be socializing! As I mentioned in the presentation on Visiting Sacred Places (still available if you opt for the recording of the 2010 Conference), an offering can be a simple as a glass of water. You can pray your Voodoo rosary or a chaplet of your Met Tet. Gris Gris Bags travel well and it only takes a few minutes to say the chant a few times.
Even though the Love Doll ritual is a bit involved, you can bring just your Doll along and have a few words with it before snuggling to sleep. I've never had airport security ask to unwrap and look at the Doll, even with the straight pin in it. If it happens, I would just explain that it's a religious object.
Luckily for me this week, I'm rattling around this house on my own so I can bring along as much as I like. A few of my adjunct work candles are almost finished, and walking the dog is a great cover for burying the stubs. Well, if the ground wasn't frozen! But nobody will ever ask about the plastic bag in one hand when the dog on a leash is in the other. ;-)
One thing I should mention (since I managed to forget) is to remember to bring along the herbs and oil that go with your candle. I've been doing this long enough that I use just one bottle of Samantha's Spiritual Power Anointing Oil for a few different candles. Specialized oils are kept in the bag with the herbs and instructions, easy enough to grab it all at once. But wouldn't you know, the one thing I forgot was my regular oil. And my candle snuffer.
As with any trip, it helps to make a list and stay organized.
Love, Khouzhan Lucy

This is great! It's so valuable to be reminded that traveling does not preclude service/spellwork. It reminds me of taking items to the ocean for service for you-know-who ;)! Keeping a list is a good point as well...I often forget that part. >,< Love you!
