As we are learning more about Voodoo in our Novitiate classes, I just realized how grateful I am for the assignments we are given. Not only do they give the opportunity for more insight and understanding of the topics, I also love the creativity they inspire.
Recently I had one of those WOW moments. We've been working in groups on a project with the Lwa. I wanted to do something particularly creative, so I opened a service and invoked the pair that our group chose.
I've done that a few times with this project, not just to cover the assignment, but also I ask them to help and inspire us in reporting and expressing what we've done. Working with the Lwa is not static; they are not an archaic topic to study. They are dynamic spirits, and the more I ask the more they give. What greater thing would they take an interest in — this is sharing them with others who might not have explored them, or perhaps have no deep connection made with them yet.
We can visit, chat with or invoke the Lwa for almost anything we do. Most of our daily activities can be dedicated as a service to a particular spirit. One of the most intense connections, though, comes with this request, "Tell me how to share you with more of the world."
As you go through your day, doing whatever you do, please keep this in mind: How can you do it better, go beyond, make it a celebration of the divine?
Love, Khouzhan Lucy
