Lavender is such a pretty flower; and it smells great as well. However, this pretty little flower has a lot of other great uses than just being pretty. Whether you are stressed, can't sleep, are feeling anxious, or have a headache, lavender may be able to help.
The name lavender comes from the Latin root lavare, meaning “to wash”. Lavender has been used for over 2,500 years and has been used for bathing, mummification, cooking, and even deodorizing hospital operating rooms. Using lavender can help with a variety of issues. Below are some common uses of lavender:
Headaches: Rub lavender oil into your temples to alleviate head pain
Anxiety: Add lavender oil to warm bath water to reduce anxiety and stress
Insomnia: Dab lavender oil on a cotton ball and place it inside your pillow to facilitate sleepiness
Stress: Add lavender flowers to tea to reduce nervous tension
Lotions with lavender are known to also help alleviate stress and anxiety.
So the next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious, have a headache or can't sleep, try a little lavender. It just may help.
