Adult acne, ew. That is how we all feel about it...however, the forces that be thought that it would be a nice thing for me to get. My face suddenly starting breaking out worse than when I was a teen. WHAT is going on??! However, if you saw me right now, you'd have no idea about the battle I have with it. Why? Because I finally figured out what works, and what doesn't. Here is what has worked great for me, and it is riduculously easy. I had tried everything, any "kit" I'd see on TV or in the store. And lets face it, that is expensive! I also learned things along the way, like the facewashes that have exfoliants in them are really bad for acne. It can actually make it worse. Also, benzoyl peroxide higher than 2.5% is harmful as well. Most treatment kits have 10%, which will only dry out and inflame your skin.
Here is what I use that have cleared me up in about 2 weeks, and I've remained clear skinned for 2 years:
A simple facewash-cetaphil daily face wash
Treatment gel of 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide. You can find it in the store, but the best bargin and product I have found can be found on acne.org. Once on the website, it is listed under acne.org products. You can buy the face wash and lotion as well, but I have found the cetaphil works just as good.
Lastly, I use organic coconut oil as my face moisturizer. It has a natural spf of about 20 in it, and also combats wrinkles.
I wash my face in the morning, apply the treatment and lotion, and then do the same before bed. Very important! I have been able to add another product, because my face has been clear for so long. If you want to add something, do only one product at a time, so you know if you break out again, what it was.
Also, the BP treatment will bleach your clothing, towels, sheets, really anything you touch, so wash your hands well after you apply it. I have found it does not bleach the hair turby towels..nor does it bleach Target's basic cotton sheets. I bought a pack of 300 count maybe, pillowcases so if it bleached, I wouldn't mind. So far, the last 2 months, nothing! And, put it on after you dress. I've ruin quite a few of my favorite shirts :)
Good luck, and happy clear skin!!
Love and Light,
Delilah
