Color in your world

The color you are wearing speaks volumes abut what you want to communicate.  When you go on a job interview you may want to wear gray or blue.    If you are giving a presentation, purple is always a good choice. 

When you go on a first date you may want to wear orange or yellow.  Find a shade that ompliments your skin tone, not something that washes you out.  If you are not sure, ask a friend who will tell you the truth to look at you in different shades.  For most people it is not the style that counts it is the color that makes you look pretty or handsome.  Below are descriptions of colors taken from the “Psychology of color” handbook.

Softer, Smoother Skin with Kiwi Fruit

Kiwis are known for being delicious and fun to eat, but did you also know they are great for softening and smoothing your skin as well? Below is an easy mask you can make a couple days a week that will help keep your skin soft, smooth, and firm.

Kiwi Mask

Mash together one kiwi, one teaspoon of honey, and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to a clean face and let sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and a soft cloth and pat face dry.

Anyone who knows me knows I HATE to drink water. However, I have been trying to get away from the diet soda. I will sometimes put lemon in my water, but I get bored with that very quickly. I happened to be talking with a lady from our satalite office, and she feels the same way about water, but I always see her with water. The secret?? She doesn't limit to just lemon!! She adds all kinds of fruit to her water! On days she needs a little detox, she does mint, lemon, and cucumber. Other days she combines things like strawberry and oranges, or blueberry and mint. It helps to muddle the fruit a bit, instead of just plunking it in.

I have tried this and it really is AMAZING!! It isn't going to a strong, sweet flavor. But, it is going to be so yummy. AND you're getting your required water.

Take care of your toes!!!

Yay!  It is almost spring time again, and that means our toes are ready for some air, and it also means they need some attention.  At home, pedicures are the best and cheapest way to have beautiful feet.  This year it is all about green, any shade of green; mint, jade, grass, pine, or anything you like. 

I like to get ready for the weekend on Thursday night. I deep condition my hair, I put a face mask on, and I prepare my toes for painting.

The painting part is quick; a little time in advance will have your toes looking beautiful for weeks.  I soak my feet, clip the toenails if needed, and file and buff them.  While I am rinsing my hair and face, I scrub my feet with a simple brush and moisturize them when I get out. 

After I dry off, I buff my toenails again and give them a quick swipe of nail polish remover to make sure all the moisturizer is off. 

1. Put a base coat on your toes and start drying your hair.

2. Aim the blow dryer at your feet on low for about 30 seconds, this help with the drying process.

3. Put the first coat of color on your toes; continue to dry your hair.

4. Aim the blow dryer at your feet again. 

5. Put one more coat on your toes; finish drying your hair,

6. Put a top coat on… slide into your flip flops, put toner and moisturizer on your face. 

7. Go have a glass of wine and watch reality TV.

An Apple a Day…

I love fruit; almost as much as I love cheese (almost). But in the winter, it’s extremely difficult to get a variety of fruits where we live. But one fruit that is always available is the apple. And this is great; because apples have some major health benefits:

Nutrition: One apple has 4 grams of soluble fiber and counts as one cup of fruit; half of what the average adult needs on a daily basis. Apples also provide 14% of an average adults daily vitamin C.

Weight Loss: Apples help to satisfy ones hunger with only about 95 calories per apple. Studies have shown that women who had a cup of dried apples daily for one year lost some weight and even lowered their cholesterol.

Heart Health: The Women’s Health Study reported last year that in a study of 34,000 women over a 20 year period, apples were associated with a lower risk of death from both coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Experts attribute the heart-healthy benefits to the antioxidant compounds that are found in apples.

Reduce Acne with Bananas

Bananas are full of anti-bacterial properties that help to reduce acne breakouts and blemishes. Using this simple little mask once or twice a week can help reduce those pesky blemishes and breakouts:

Cleaning Tip

When cleaning the bathroom or kitchen, place a few drops of orange oil onto the sponge or cleaning cloth. The scent is fantastic and will leave your kitchen and bath surfaces freshly sanitized and pleasantly aromatic.

Sleep is a wonderful thing!!!

Sleep is the most important component of good physical and mental health.  Sleep deprivation can lead to more serious illness because your body also loses its ability to fight infection.  So rest is the best medicine.  To make sure your body is resting, make sure your mind can rest first. 

Make a list of things you want to get done the next day.  I write a list before I leave work, leave one copy there and take one with me.

When you get home or to the gym, let your mind rest, you already know what has to be done the next day. Do something unrelated to work, like cook or clean a closet or read something.  This should help you feel relaxed after a long day.  If you have children, play a game or take a walk with them. 

Don’t have any caffeine after 2:00 pm so it will wear off in time for you to go to bed.

Don’t have too much alcohol. Alcohol is a stimulant (bar fights etc…) your sleep will be totally interrupted.
