It never seems to fail; as soon as the seasons start to change people tend to get sick. If you're one of the many affected by sore throats and coughs this time of year, you may want to try one of these four homemade cough remedies:
- Honey and Cinnamon: Mix a small amount of cinnamon with a tablespoon of honey to quiet your cough and soothe your throat.
- Hot Tea: Either regular or herbal tea can help loosen congestion as well as help keep you hydrated and soothe a scratchy throat.
- Peppermint: Adding a drop or two of peppermint essential oil to a cup of tea or glass of water can help calm a cough. Sucking on a peppermint can also aid in calming your cough.
- Steam: Taking a hot shower can help loosen congestion and open air ways. Or try using a humidifier; the moistened air will help a dry cough and/or itchy throat.
