It has been a wonderful week in the life of Ann. Every November, there is a joyous celebration when Pantone announces its new color for the following year. Being in the home furnishing/design industry, this is my 4th of July. This year there are two outstanding recycled colors that made my toes curl.
The first is Cerulean Blue (cir. 2000). Miranda (played by Meryl Streep) in the "Devil Wears Prada" gave entire dissertation on how this color came to fashion. Please see this movie if you haven't.
The next color is Fusia Rose (cir. 2001). It was indeed a memorable and sad year for the whole world. This time around things are looking a little rosier.
One of my all time favorites not chosen for 2013 is Pantone Pumpkin Orange (not to be confused with 2012’s color Tangerine Tango).
The Pumpkin Orange was named by the English in 1922, is a combination of the primary colors red and yellow with a little white mixed in. Because it has a little more yellow than red, it is has a warmer hue. This by the way is awesome for color blocking.
For your wardrobe, Pumpkin Orange looks great with purple, mint green, red, and other shades of orange.
For your home, use it as an accent piece like a vase or a pillow, or even books. Or if you are daring, paint one wall as an accent.
Anyway my friends, I hope you are able to bring some color into your colorful lives!
XOXO Ann
