Whether you store your makeup in a cabinet, bag, box, or just scattered across your counter, it’s a good idea to take stock of your beauty supplies once in a while and eliminate items you don’t want or need any longer. Here are some easy tips on how to make what can be a daunting task a little less daunting:
- Begin with the Necessities: Create a "keep pile" of products that you use on a daily basis. For me, these items include foundation, blush, eyeliner, an eye shadow compact, mascara, lip balm, and a set of brushes.
- Throw Away the Rest: Next, toss the items that clearly are outdated or items that may smell, look, or feel different then when you first purchased them. Because cosmetics that have expired can harm your skin, it’s best to throw away any items that are old or outdated.
- The Inbetweens: Next, it's time to decide what to do with those in-between products. These may include gifts you received from frineds, a shade you purchased that never really worked for you, or an impulse buy you made. Whatever the case may be, you'll need to decide to begin using it or throw it away.
- Clean Your Area: After you have sorted through all of your items and decided what you want to keep, clean out the area you will be using to store your products.
Following these steps will make it easier to keep your beauty supplies organized, up-to-date, and easy to find!
