Hello everyone! I know many of you have heard me speak of the church here in New Mexico, Santuario de Chimayo. This little church, built in the 1800's, sits high in the New Mexico mountains and has been nicknamed "the Lourdes of America" due to the many documented healings that have taken place there.
There is a tradition here of the faithful walking up the mountain to the Santuario from as far as 100 miles away! This happens every Good Friday here in New Mexico with different families along the route of the pilgrimage opening their homes to the faithful who walk. There are also re-enactments of different religious events and lots of volunteers to help those who walk.
