We are very excited about our upcoming ritual to General Ogoun on Wednesday, 7/25. I wanted to share a story about an experience I had with this powerful lwa. It was in 2006 at the Lave Tet held by Mambo Sam and Parran Matt. Lave Tet means “head-washing” and is a Vodou ritual that yields many benefits. One of these is a closer relationship with the lwa through cleansing and preparing the way for them to communicate with you. The participants head is “washed” seven times, each time for a different lwa.
I will never forget my head-washing for Ogoun Feraille. I had been feeling weak and emotionally drained prior to the Lave Tet. After the washing, I felt charged- spiritually and physically empowered. Feeling like I could do anything, for a brief moment I had the idea of scaling the wall of a building and climbing to the top- it was that powerful. Almost as soon as I had the thought, I heard Ogoun saying, “Real strength is when you can do something but choose not to”; strength should be used wisely, in appropriate situations. I still feel a warm, tingling feeling in my chest when I remember this powerful experience! Honor to General Ogoun!
A bath you can take on your own to honor and become closer with Ogoun is General Ogoun's Crimson Power Bath Kit! It is terrific! A great way to get guidance from Ogoun Feraille, Sister Bridget offers tarot card and pendulum readings to get Ogoun’s insight on a situation. She also offers a powerful Voodoo Lamp Ritual that can be customized for your situation. You can see a live Voodoo Lamping burning at the upcoming ritual to Ogoun!
