Hi Everyone,
This morning, while I was in the shower (which is where I do some of my best thinking), I was contemplating faith. Now, let's think about that word for a second, "Faith." For being a relatively short word, it certainly packs a punch, doesn't it? I mean, think about it...faith is the one thing that keeps us going. Faith is what propels us to go to work, raise children, cultivate relationships, work towards a goal, etc. Most of us wouldn't even get out of bed in the morning somedays without the faith that with the dawn comes a new day. However, as MaMere has said many times before, "faith is a sticky wicket." It's easy to have faith when things are going smoothly. When you're riding high and everything is going your way, it's easy to look at your life and the world around you and just know that God, the Lwa and the Universe will take care of you, right. Things are good right now, so why would you think anything different. On the flip side, when things aren't going quite so well...your job sucks, money is tight, kids are in turmoil, relationships aren't working out...those are the times when it's hard to have faith that everything will work out for you. So, it would seem that the times when you need faith the most, are when it is most likely to be in short supply. Figures, right?!
Now, if you're like me, you probably sometimes wonder why the whole faith thing is necessary. Why can't things just work out the way you want them to work, when you want them to work, and then you won't need faith to keep you going? Wow! That would be cool, wouldn't it? I would definitely sign up for life on that planet!! :-) The reality of it though, is that things don't always happen the way we want. Things don't always happen in our timing. When we are waiting for something we've been working on to come to fruition, that's the time that it's really, really hard to keep our faith high and just know that things will turn out. So what do you do? How do you have faith when you need it the most? I honestly do wish there was a recipe for faith. I wish I could just tell everyone (including myself) HOW to have faith and how to keep going when times get a bit rough. Unfortunately, faith doesn't work that way. There is no recipe for faith, because faith is different for everyone. What gives me faith might be different than what gives you faith. We all think and emote differently, so we are all wired a bit differently in the faith area, too. This makes it particularly hard, if not damn near impossible, for me to know what will trigger faith in you. However, there is one way of looking at faith that might just work for you, so I thought I would share it. (Sort of like cooking pasta, I thought I would throw it again the wall and see what sticks.) ;-)
OK, so here goes. This might sound a bit radical, but one way to look at faith is to couple it to stubbornness. I know, I know...we were always taught that it's not necessarily a good thing to be stubborn, but in the faith department it actually is! If you have faith that something is meant to be, something should be, and something WILL BE, then not only do you have faith that it will be, but you have probably dug in your heels about it in some fashion or another and become a bit stubborn about it. See where I'm going with this? So, if you have dug in your heels about something, like a love situation, or a job you want, or a legal situation, then you won't take "no" for an answer. So through your faith you've become stubborn about it, and vice versa. Now, while I know this isn't exactly the same as just purely having faith, in my book there's a close enough match between faith and stubbornness and the two go very nicely hand in hand...especially if you've been doing any sort of magickal work toward your desired goal. Also, you can then take your stubbornness/faith and put that back into your work on the situation. Do you see where I'm going with that?
So, the next time you need some good old fashioned faith, why not be stubborn about it? You know things will work out for you because there's no alternative. You won't take "no" for an answer. So just KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW and continue on in high faith that what you desire will come to you in the proper timing. Why? Because it has to. You've dug in your heels. You're being stubborn about it and you won't take "no" for an answer! You have FAITH that it will happen for you, and so it shall.
OK then, so that's my secret for triggering faith. Know what you know. Be stubborn. If you give it time, things will work out, and if you've enlisted the help of the Lwa, they will work out for the best. So just sit back, dig your heels in, and ride HIGH ON FAITH...knowing that it's only a matter of time before things are going to go your way! ;-)
Much love,
Sister Candelaria
